Description
Newspaper was commissioned by the Galante Children’s Choir. Year of composition 2015. The commission was supported by Arts Promotion Centre Taike.
Galante (conducted by Anna Nora) premiered Newspaper (in Finnish) at the chamber music hall of Helsinki Conservatory on 14 March, 2015.
Each singer must have a copy of a newspaper, all of them from the same date – the date does not have to be recent. The text of the work consists of news taken from the newspaper, according to the instructions given in the score.
The English translations are by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi.
There is also a version in Finnish (Sanomalehti, S2478) and in French (Le journal, S2597) of the work.
