Chamber oratorio for ethnic mezzosoprano and mixed choir after Larin Paraske and Ingrian melodies.
Description
Iloveet (The Waters of Joy) is a little oratorio for ethnic mezzosoprano and mixed choir based on poems sung by Larin Paraske and Ingrian tunes published by Armas Launis. This three-movement-work – Metsä (Forest), Kultatammi (Golden Oak), Huolet (Worries) – is formed of 18 text and 16 tune excerpts. The core of the topics handled in the songs, are singing and the and the classic missions of art: to bring happiness and comfort. In the background there is the frightening, protective and enchanting forest. There grows the golden oak, a tree of life bursting joy of body and mind, a distant relative to the Huluppu-tree of the Sumerians. The singer Larin Paraske could enchant that tree.
