Missa Popularis

Description
A setting of the texts of the Catholic ordinarium Mass, the Missa Popularis was inspired by the great classical Masses of the Catholic Church. Despite its strong Baroque flavour, it is first and foremost an example of progressive rock a major departure of its models. Its premiere at the Turku Concert Hall on April 5, 1969 was an absolute sensation.
Three versions of the Missa Popularis have been produced over the years. The first (a pop-rock version) was in 1969, the second (a “romantic” one arranged for large orchestra by Hannu Keinänen) in 1982, and a jazz one (arranged by Heikki J. Heinonen) in 1991. The vocal parts of the different versions are all in accordance with this edition.
